WEATHER LINKS
Follow the links in this section ONLY if you are NOT using dial-up access. These links need broadband!
Please note that I have moved the two animated subpanels that used to display here to another
page and put a link to that page here. That animation was using too many computer cycles,
and I want this page to be useable for dial-up users.
for an animated comparison of conditions on either side of Sky Valley, using the station at Dillon Estates! NOTE: Dillon Estates seems to be BACK, after being down for several weeks!
to visit Wunderground's comprehensive view of the Larsen Lane station and others!
for an interactive map of nearby weather stations!
Take a minute to understand the legend of this map, and you'll see a great deal of information,
compactly presented. You can see how the winds flow all around our area, and how SKY VALLEY
often gets the brunt of them!
NOTES
- Our Internet provider, FlashByte, has periods of spotty service, so there will be periods when this page cannot be updated. Apologies!
- This page updates every 15 minutes when all is working,
but your browser will probably NOT reload it automatically. You will have to refresh your copy manually.
IF you are using Mozilla FireFox, you can install the "Reload Every" add-on to automate that.
(Select "Tools > Add-ons" and then "Get Extensions.") NOTICE: On my system, Reload Only stopped working
when I installed FireFox 3.0, even though there was a new version of the add-on just for 3.0.
- Our sensors are mounted rooftop, about 16 feet above the desert sand. The temperature up there typically registers several degrees cooler than at ground level. We can't decide whether this is a defect or not. What do YOU think?
- This is an elderly
Davis Weather Monitor II
with
Ambient Virtual Weather Station Pro
software.
- For best viewing use a window wide enough for three graphs across.
- Bug: Occasionally a wind gust will be interpreted as a bit of rain. I try to correct these after the fact, but the Total Rain figure will usually be wrong.
- Bug: Occasional 100% humidity readings are an intermittent cable connection.
When it happens it affects several other readings too. Sorry.
- I am actively soliciting other Sky Valley residents who have weather stations to make them
available on the web, as this one's days are apparently numbered. But see link to DILLON ESTATES above.
- This page is a WORK IN PROGRESS! Send error reports and suggestions to Neil@SkyValleyCA.com. Thanks!
